 Houston, Texas, June 14th, 2024: The Africa Sports Ventures Group is launching its grassroots sports initiative, the Africa High Schools Basketball Showcase, at the esteemed Degla Sports Facilities in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024. This program will showcase a select group of high schools and basketball academies, presenting some of the top high school basketball talents in Kenya. The event serves as a qualifier for the continental championship, featuring winning high schools from different countries, scheduled for Accra, Ghana on December 20th & 21st, 2024. Supported by the Degla Sports Consortium, Avenue Healthcare, Fundamentor Kenya Basketball Academy, and several other partners, the showcase will commence at 8:00 AM Nairobi time and continue throughout the day. The tournament winner will represent Kenya at the continental showcase in Accra, Ghana in December. The tournament in Kenya and other countries under the ASVG Project 144 grassroots sports initiative aims to enhance the level of competition and provide exposure to student-athletes in Kenya and beyond. Ms. Wairimu Nyathira an accomplished sports marketing professional and one of the 2024 50 Influential African Women in Sports, leads Kenya’s Project 144 and the ASVG Regional offices for East Africa. Project 144 is a grassroots sports initiative that aims to create a platform for increased and inclusive participation, fostering community engagement to cultivate a richer sports culture in member countries. The Africa High Schools Basketball Showcase, like our initial edition in Cape Verde, will be livestreamed/broadcasted, with abundant videos and photos of the tournament shared across various ASVG social media platforms.
